The DA welcomes the completion of upgrades, by KwaZulu-Natal’s (KZN) Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI), to Menzi High School in Umlazi – a school that has consistently achieved a 100% matric pass rate despite significant challenges.

This milestone is one worth celebrating. It reflects not only the resilience and dedication of learners and educators, but also what can be achieved when government remains focused on delivery.

The project was not without obstacles. Persistent disruptions by unlawful construction mafia syndicates threatened to derail progress. However, the DPWI, under the leadership of MEC Martin Meyer, stood firm and refused to be intimidated by criminal elements.

This upgraded facility is a clear demonstration that service delivery is possible when there is political will and ethical leadership. Communities should not be held back by criminality or self-interest.

Since joining KZN’s Government of Provincial Unity (GPU) in mid-2024, the DA has continued to show that accountable, transparent governance delivers real results for the people of our province.

This is the standard our communities deserve. The DA remains committed to ensuring that more projects such as this are completed efficiently, safely, and without interference.
