The DA in eThekwini has written to the Acting City Manager, Thami Manyathi, to request an urgent investigation and response into the allegations that the EFF utilised municipal buses in eThekwini to transport supporters from uMtubatuba, Phongola, and Vryheid to the FNB stadium in Johannesburg, for the EFF’s 10-year celebration (view letter here).
If these claims are true, it means that eThekwini ratepayers paid for the transportation of EFF members.
The DA wants to know if this is all part of the ANC/EFF corrupt alliance, which attempts to further destroy eThekwini’s economy.
We have requested answers on the following:
• Whether or not the buses were hired?
• How many buses were hired?
• The cost of hire?
• Where these buses deployed to pick up community members?
We demand a comprehensive investigation into whether the buses were involved. Allegations state that these buses were given to the EFF by the ANC for FREE as part of the ANC/EFF corrupt relationship.
Issues have been raised promptly, but the ANC continues to disregard sound advice and concerns from the DA.
The DA will not allow eThekwini rate payers to foot the bill for the corrupt ANC/EFF alliance.
