The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) welcomes the announcement by COGTA MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi to authorise a Section 106 forensic investigation into the affairs of the municipality. This investigation will probe allegations of maladministration, fraud, irregular recruitment processes, and political interference in procurement and supply chain management, among other concerns.
The ANC-led KwaDukuza Municipality has been plagued by controversy, with recent political instability and the ineffective leadership of ceremonial Mayor Ali Ngidi further deepening the crisis. For over two years, the DA has consistently raised concerns with COGTA, calling for intervention and accountability regarding irregularities within the municipality. Today’s decision by the MEC is a significant step forward and also reflects the persistent efforts of a key civic body that has tirelessly advocated for transparency and good governance in KwaDukuza.
As the ANC’s governance in KwaDukuza continues to crumble under the weight of its own mismanagement, the DA remains committed to exposing the deep-rooted issues that have compromised service delivery and governance in the municipality.
We will continue to fight for accountability and ensure that the residents of KwaDukuza receive the transparent and effective leadership they deserve.
