The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal welcomes the deployment of a new permanent Home Affairs office to uMngeni Local Municipality.

DA-run uMngeni Mayor, Chris Pappas in partnership with the Minister of Home Affairs, the DA’s Dr. Leon Schreiber have been able to deliver this office that will offer smart IDs and passport services. It will be accessible at the Mevana/Howick office.

In addition, the Department is also currently running a Home Affairs on Wheels campaign across the municipality where the department is taking services directly to people especially those who might face barriers due to location and other challenges.

The campaign is currently in uMngeni until 07 March 2025, it includes communities such as Mpophomeni, Mevana, Lidgetton, Hilton and Zenzane.

The DA led government is constantly searching for ways to enhance the quality of services that it provides to ensure it epitomises accountability, directing funds towards citizens, destroying the self-serving culture and diligently building seamless service.

For years, the ANC government has consistently ignored the plight of residents including the most vulnerable that need these services.

The DA is committed to serving people diligently and with integrity-based governance that leaves no one behind by closing the gap between communities and essential services.
