The Democratic Alliance in KwaDukuza Local Municipality (KDM) notes the election of the new Mayor of KwaDukuza, Muzi Ali Ngidi (ANC) and the Deputy Mayor, Njabulo Cele (ANC) that were elected today during a Full Council Sitting.
The election comes a week after Councillor Lindile Nhaca was ousted by her own party, the ANC, through a Motion of No Confidence (MONC).
The ANCs infighting has left departments unable to function and deliver services to residents. We are therefore calling on both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to lead with conviction and boldness, get the municipality to function again for the benefit of the people of KwaDukuza.
We further note that position of Action SA and the IFP who voted with the ANC under the mask of “stability”.
This is despite ActionSA last week voting against the ANC’s motion to remove the Mayor. This position seems to be contradictory.
The DA will continue to hold the ANC accountable before the 2026 Local Government Election when they will be removed.
