The DA in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) will today embark on a two-week state of readiness oversight tour across the province ahead of the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) final examinations.
The tour, which includes oversights across KZN’s 12 districts, aims to assess interventions by the province’s Department of Education (DoE) at schools that saw disappointing matric results in the 2023 NSC finals.
It will also seek to establish key issues affecting performance and then troubleshoot them with the DoE ahead of the examinations which begin on 21 October 2024.
Today will see the delegation in the Umlazi District at Witteklip Secondary in Chatsworth, which only achieved a dismal 47.8% pass rate last year and will culminate with an oversight of Dokkies in Umbilo, said to be the worst performing centre in that district in 2023.
The DA has always maintained that it is vital to ensure that schools are supported holistically in order to make them environments where our children can learn and succeed.
We remain committed to playing our role as part of KZN’s government of provincial unity (GPU) to make this a reality.
