This past weekend, the Democratic Alliance Youth Federal and Provincial leadership commemorated youth month in the DA-run uMngeni Local Municipality, where they spent time encouraging the youth to lead with resilience and vision.

At the vibrant DA Mooi-uMgeni Youth month event at the Mphophomeni Sports Ground, DA Youth Federal Leader Ndipiwe Olayi and DA KZN Youth Chairperson ,Sthabelo Ntshangase urged young South Africans to take the lead in shaping a brighter future. Embracing the 2025 Youth Month theme, “Skills for the Changing World: Bridging the Gap through Education, Skills Development, and Entrepreneurship.

They encouraged the youth to channel their energy, creativity, and determination to drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond.

South Africa faces daunting challenges, with the world’s highest unemployment rate hitting young people hardest, alongside persistent poverty and inequality. Access to quality education and opportunities remains out of reach for many.

This while the ANC leadership continues to prioritize party loyalists overqualified youth, deepening barriers to opportunity.

The DA remains committed to empowering young South Africans through transformative education, skills development, and entrepreneurship. The party advocates for bold reforms in higher education, promoting fairness, aligning institutions with local economies, and ensuring career guidance becomes a core part of every student’s journey—equipping youth to discover their strengths and pursue careers that fuel progress.

Drawing inspiration from the courage of the 1976 youth, young people need to step up: “The future is shaped by those who act with purpose. Don’t wait, be the change!”

The DA is dedicated to fighting for jobs, opportunities, and dignity for all. Young South Africans are urged to mobilise, organize, and vote DA to build a nation that reflects their potential.
