During a full Council meeting , last week Thursday, a faction of the ANC made calls for the Municipal Manager, Nhlanhla Mdakane, Executive Director Economic Development and Planning, Mr Sikhumbuzo Hlongwane and Chief Operation Officer, Mr Mandla Manzini to resign with immediate effect.
A memorandum was received by the Chief Whip, Councillor Humphrey Mbatha on behalf of the mayor, giving the municipality 14 days to respond.
Amongst the demands which were cited by the ANC was the immediate suspension of flood related tenders, and the halting of these projects and the reinstatement of suspended CFO, Shamir Rajcoomar
Whether these allegations have merit or not remains irrelevant. The ANC cannot be so arrogant, that they interrupt the business of council at their whim.
What transpired today unfortunately is not unique nor is it the first time that factions in the ANC have put their internal disputes above the interests of the communities they supposedly serve.
While the ANC continue with their internal factional battles, the DA in KwaDukuza remains committed to serving our communities and voters who have placed their trust in us, to the best of our ability during these turbulent times.
