The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Msunduzi has written to the Deputy DM for Community Services and Enforcement , Sandile Zondi to request his urgent intervention over illegal land invasions/structures in parts of Msunduzi.
This as the DA has received complaints from distressed residents in Ward 29 over the municipality’s failure to address and stop illegal land grabbers. This is land that was identified by the municipality for RDP houses.
These illegal buildings have been reported to the municipality several times with no action. Residents sent proof of these land grabs, but nothing was done. As a result, the number of these illegal structures has increased. Had law enforcement acted swiftly we would not be in this situation today.
There are allegations of individuals that have built rooms for rental including connecting electricity and water illegally.
We therefore request law enforcement to act urgently.
