As the Democratic Alliance (DA) prepares to mark one year as a key role player within KwaZulu-Natal’s (KZN) Government of Provincial Unity (GPU), we reaffirm our commitment to a capable, ethical and caring government – one which places principle and the people of our province before politics.

While the past year has seen much change, our 2024 election campaign commitments to the people of KZN remain at the forefront of all we do within the GPU.

These commitments include restoring KZN’s provincial economy through strict cost containment, along with the introduction of groundbreaking new provincial government initiatives. The positive ripple effect of these measures is already being felt across the entire provincial government.

The benefits of a strong provincial economy cannot be over-emphasised. In particular, it leads to investment and ultimately job creation. This is the DA’s primary focus in our province. It is what our voters want and it is what we are working hard to deliver on.

Service delivery is another key commitment made by the DA. We remain committed to a streamlined provincial government that functions properly – rather than the bloated bureaucracy of the past. This is the only way that KZN’s GPU can ensure proper service delivery.

With service delivery set to feature front and centre ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections, it is clear that KZN’s people deserve better. The DA is working hard to improve systems, particularly within our municipalities, in order to ensure this.

There is still a long way to go to get our province back on track but we are finally moving in the right direction. The DA’s role within the GPU – and the key positions we now hold – have given us the opportunity to make a very real difference. We remain steadfast in our commitments to the people of KZN, above all else.
