The Democratic DA) in the City of uMhlathuze welcomes the appointment of the new City Manager, Mr. Phakama Mhlongo.
He had been acting in the position for four (4) months, in which the DA had repeatedly requested that this position is permanently filled to ensure accountability in the municipality as we fight to strengthen governance in the administration of the City.
We wish Mr. Mhlongo all the best as he begins the monumental task of delivering quality services to the people of uMhlathuze. The DA will closely monitor the implementation of key infrastructure projects by the new City Manager.
The role of a city manager is an important one as the accounting officer of the municipality and his role will help in the fight against corruption, poor management decision making and the abuse of state resources.
