The Democratic Alliance (DA) is appalled by Msunduzi Mayor, Councillor Mzi Thebolla’s, blatant disregard for the concerns of ratepayers.
Despite confirming his attendance, the mayor failed to show up to a critical meeting that was scheduled for yesterday at 10H00 with Mkondeni business owners to discuss the community’s crippling service delivery issues.
This egregious display of disrespect is a stark reminder of the mayor’s priorities, politics over people. By choosing to meet with the DSG of the ANC instead, the mayor has made it clear that his loyalty lies with his political party, not the people who pay his salary.
Mkondeni, a significant contributor to the municipality’s income, is plagued by a multitude of service delivery failures, including:
– Constant electricity and water outages
– Roads that require 4x4s to navigate
– Blocked sewers
– Rubbish trucks that drive by without collecting waste
– Chemical warehouses causing infrastructure collapse, posing a danger to life and livelihoods
These issues are not just minor inconveniences, they are a testament to the municipality’s gross neglect of its responsibilities. The DA demands that the mayor take immediate action to address these issues and provide a clear plan for resolving them.
The DA will continue to hold the Mayor accountable for his actions and fight for the rights of Msunduzi ratepayers.
