The DA in the uThukela District today calls on the Alfred Duma Speaker,Councillor Bheki Sithole, to urgently launch an investigation into claims of an IFP councillor being a “sexual predator.”
This serious accusation was made by ANC Secretary, Bheki Mtolo in a press statement. The DA would assume that the ANC and Mr. Mtolo have evidence of this crime and, therefore, will have no problem handing this information to the police and Speaker.
If there is prima facie evidence that the accusation is true, the IFP councillor should be charged both criminally for bringing the Alfred Duma Municipality into disrepute.
If the media statements by the ANC are false, there must be a public apology from the ANC and damages claimed by the wrongly accused councillor.
The DA will not allow sexual predators to get off lightly and at the same time, allow political parties to casually accuse people of crimes without evidence which must be provided to relevant authorities.
