The DA in Mpofana Local Municipality has been reliably informed that the Municipal Speaker, Councillor Zweli Dladla has had a case opened against him for charges relating to assault.
The Speaker, who is also the Councillor in Ward 2, allegedly slapped a woman last week during a meeting. The mentioned woman has since opened a case against him in which the DA has seen the case number.
We are calling on the Speaker to be suspended until all allegations against him have been cleared and if he is found guilty to be fired and jailed.
In a province that is leading with crimes against women and children including Gender-Based Violence, we cannot have leaders committing such crimes. We are calling on this matter to be dealt with speedily and for justice to be served.
