In an apparent effort to ensure that the Motion of No Confidence in Cllr. Vikizitha Mlotshwa, the Okhahlamba Mayor, was not passed, the ANC in KZN dismissed two of its Councillors without seemingly following any due process.
The Council Meeting took place on Tuesday the 29 March 2022 and Councilor Thabile Ngozo and Vusumuzi Wiseman Mazibuko were informed that they had lost their Okhahlamba council seats. Both these ANC councillors were in support of the Vote of No Confidence in Cllr Mlotshwa, and it was apparently for this reason that the KZN Provincial ANC terminated their ANC membership and thus their membership of the Okhahlamba Council with immediate effect. The veracity of the letter from the KZN Provincial ANC was questionable and the council meeting was therefore postponed.
Today, at the start of the Okhahlamba Council meeting, chaos ensued and the embattled Okhahlamba Mayor, summoned the Magistrate to swear in a new ANC PR Councilor.
This seemingly unprocedural process to terminate the ANC membership of Cllrs Ngozo and Mazibuko by the ANC ensured that there was not a majority of Okhahlamba councillors who would vote in favour of the Vote of No Confidence and ensured that Cllr Mlotshwa remains the Mayor of Okhahlamba despite the serious allegations that exist against him.
