Today, the Democratic Alliance officially announced the candidates who will contest all 13 wards in the uMngeni Local Municipality in the Local Government Elections on 4 November 2026.

Together, these candidates represent the team that the DA is putting forward to serve the people of uMngeni after the 4 November elections.
Under my leadership, they will be tasked with delivering on the commitments contained in the DA’s 2026 manifesto, The Next Chapter, and ensuring that uMngeni continues to make progress.
The announcement brings together a team of experienced public representatives, community leaders and new candidates who share a commitment to protecting the progress made in uMngeni and building on it over the next five years.
The DA’s ward candidates are:

• Ward 3: Mfanafuthi Zibule
• Ward 4: Thembinkosi Sipho Zuma
• Ward 5: Paul-Michael Keichel
• Ward 6: Ian Macfarlane
• Ward 7: Kate Janse Van Rensburg
• Ward 8: Zuziwe Lushozi
• Ward 9: Mbuyiselwa Ntuli
• Ward 10: Makhosi Mchunu
• Ward 11: Lindelani Ntombela
• Ward 12: Zibuse “Eric” Ntshangase
• Ward 13: Thembi Mchunu
The DA also announced our proportional representation (PR) candidates, who will form part of the broader team contesting the election under the DA banner.
They include:

• Nompumelelo Buthelezi,
• Avishkar Ramjaram,
• Wonderbos Ndlovu,

Over the past five years, the DA has worked to rebuild uMngeni, strengthen the municipality and restore confidence in local government. We have made significant progress, but we know that there is still much more work to be done.
Our candidates understand that public office is about service. They will be expected to remain accessible to their communities, work hard, uphold the highest standards of integrity and ensure that the municipality continues to deliver for residents.
This election is about protecting the gains we have made while setting an even more ambitious agenda for the next five years.
As we welcome the team that will take the DA into the next chapter, we also pay tribute to those councillors who will be leaving Council.
We thank Pam Passmoor, Hazel Lake, Teresa Duggan, Piet le Roux and Janis Holmes for their years of service, sacrifice and commitment to the DA and the people of uMngeni. Each have played an important role in building the organisation and contributing to the progress that uMngeni enjoys today.
We also remember and acknowledge all those who came before us. The DA in uMngeni has been built over many years by councillors, activists, public representatives, volunteers and supporters who worked tirelessly to lay the foundation on which we stand today.
In 2021, we asked the people of uMngeni to trust our promises.
In 2026, we ask them to trust our record of delivery and give this team the mandate to write The Next Chapter.
On 4 November, vote DA on all three ballots.
