The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal today welcomes the Howick Magistrates Court bail judgment in respect of one of the suspects in the brutal murder of late DA uMngeni Chief Whip, Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.

The suspect’s bail application was denied.

A second suspect has also been arrested and had his first court appearance today.

Both suspects have now been remanded in custody until 11 March 2025.

Despite the progress in court, we are disappointed by the lack of cooperation from the Police, after the DA’s independent investigation team made a breakthrough in the case it has been given the cold shoulder by the Police.

We call on the Police to arrest the mastermind behind this senseless killing – the mastermind allegedly paid for the execution of Ndlovu, as was divulged during today’s proceedings.

The DA will continue to support the Ndlovu family until justice prevails.
