The DA in KwaZulu-Natal welcomes the decision by the Howick Magistrates Court to withdraw the bail application of Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu’s accused murderer.

He has been remanded in custody and case postponed to 8 November 2024, for the bail application.

The DA is expecting the SAPS task team to announce more arrests as the only accused was only one of a collective who pulled off this assassination of Nhlalayenza.

In fact, evidence indicates that the accused did not pull the trigger.

We are also appealing to the police to ensure that the accused is not harmed, KZN has a dreadful reputation of witnesses and those accused of crimes being eliminated.

All those that orchestrated this senseless killing should have their day in court and face the full might of the law.

We are gravely concerned about the secrecy surrounding the investigation. Attempts by our independent task team to engage with the Special Task team appointed by President Ramaphosa and our specialized investigators have been ignored.

The DA will actively follow this case together with our independent task team to ensure that justice is served.

It cannot be business as usual when one of our own and a leader in his community is brutally murdered in front of his family including his children.
