The Democratic Alliance in KwaDukuza remains gravely concerned that there appears to be a deafening silence around the suspended Integrated Development Plan (IDP) roadshows. While this is not the only aspect that remains on suspension in KwaDukuza, it is simply unconscionable that an individual is holding an entire legislated process like the Mayoral imbizo to ransom.
The reality is that the beleaguered Mayor, Lindile Nhaca, still has multiple delegated functions to her that need to be fulfilled.
The ANCs silence on the motion of no confidence against their own is further exacerbating this stalemate.
According to the annual schedule of meetings, a full sitting of council is due to meet next Thursday. As the DA, we are keeping a close eye on this and will ensure that the business of council is not hijacked by the mafia style officials who are actually running council.
The DA has been clear in our position, we are not going to be drawn into fighting the ANCs internal battles. The real battle here remains that of getting services to the people of KwaDukuza, while this political thuggery plays itself out.
