The DA in KwaZulu-Natal welcomes the arrest of a 31-year-old man from Pietermaritzburg who was arrested on Friday, 04 October in connection with the alleged killing of the late DA Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.

The suspect appeared at the Howick Magistrate’s Court today on charges of murder and possession of unlawful ammunition.

It is alleged that he shot Councillor Nhlalayenza 10 times in December last year in front of his wife and children. He is expected back in court on Friday for a formal bail application.

The DA is calling for swift justice in this matter and to understand the motive behind this senseless and brutal killing.

In a Province where political killings are rife, we are hopeful that this case will set an example and bring an end to these senseless killings.

The DA will be in attendance of the bail hearing on Friday, 11 October 2024 at the Howick Magistrate’s Court.

We hope that this matter will now be concluded expeditiously and that the Ndlovu family will get closure.
