Oversight inspections by the DA have revealed extremely challenging living conditions for residents in Siyanda B and C sections in KwaMashu due to a lack of response to their concerns by the ANC-run eThekwini municipality.

The community is dealing with serious service delivery challenges including pipe bursts, overflowing sewage and inadequate waste management.

Currently, more than 23 households are affected by the sewage problem, with some community members stating that the smell is so bad they cannot breathe properly.

It is unacceptable that this community’s complaints are seemingly being disregarded by the municipality. Instead, they are reduced to mere reference numbers, without tangible actions being taken to address the problems.

It’s crucial that eThekwini municipality prioritize the well-being of residents and provide essential services. This must include proper sanitation, waste management and housing maintenance.

The DA will continue to fight for adequate service delivery, accountability and action from eThekwini’s ANC-run municipality.
