Note to Editors: Please find attached attached a soundbite in English by Francois Rodgers during the announcement of the new uMngeni Deputy Mayor.

Today, the DA in KwaZulu-Natal is proud to announce our candidate for uMngeni Deputy Mayor, Sandile Mnikathi. See here, here, here, here.

Sandile will work side by side with the Mayor-elect, Chris Pappas on this 5-year journey of governing our newest municipality.

This young and dynamic councillor, has gone through a rigorous candidate selection process that we subject all of our public representatives to.

Sandile is a proud resident of uMngeni. He went to Howick Prep and then to Howick Secondary. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Political Science and Philosophy. He also holds an Honours degree in International Relations and is currently studying towards a PhD in Political Science.

Mnikathi has a proven political track record in the DA. Just last week, he was able to win a ward off the ANC in the local government elections. He also currently is a member of the DA KZN Provincial Executive Committee and Provincial Management Committee.

The DA in KZN has full faith in Sandile and his leadership, and believes that alongside Mayor-elect Pappas, will rebuild uMngeni to be the shining example of how a transparent, corrupt free municipality can deliver services to its residents.

We wish Sandile well on this new role in government and commit to providing our support to this exciting new administration.
