The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal welcomes the appointment of Inkosi Rubert Sifiso Shinga as the new provincial Chairperson for the House of Traditional and Khoi-San leaders. Inkosi Shinga, from Umzumbe in the Ugu District, was elected in a peaceful election.

The Democratic Alliance recognises and respects the role and importance of traditional leaders in the province. The DA also understands that traditional leadership plays a critical role in the fight against social ills, as well as working hand in hand with local government to provide service delivery in rural communities.

The DA in KZN congratulates Inkosi Shinga and the entire new structure and wish them well in their new responsibilities.

The DA is willing to work together with all legitimate leadership structures in our society to ensure that the lives of our people are improved.
